Resumption of limited attendance hearings

Hearings update

Following the release of the government’s roadmap out of lockdown, the Inquiry has shared with core participants its high-level plan to resume hearings from its venue in 13 Bishop’s Bridge Road. This will be dependent on the government’s roadmap being implemented as anticipated. Enabling the bereaved, survivors and residents to attend hearings in person remains a priority and the Panel still intends to permit this as soon as it is safe to do so.

Support arrangements during the Christmas period

Hearings update

The Inquiry was made aware today that an individual who was onsite last week has tested positive for Covid-19. The individual was last at the venue on 4 December and, accordingly, a number of other individuals have been told to isolate.

The Inquiry has strong precautions in place to maintain two-metre distancing between attendees, so this will hopefully be an isolated case. However due to the reduction in staff numbers, and in the interest of safety, the Chairman has made the difficult decision to suspend hearings.
