The Inquiry has published an update on its closure plans.

Closure of the Inquiry

The Inquiry will close formally once the Chairman writes to the Prime Minister to confirm he has completed the Inquiry’s Terms of Reference. The Chairman will write once all administrative arrangements have been completed, including the payment of all bills and costs and the archiving of the record.

The transfer of the record is underway and  our expectation is that the Chairman will be in a position to write to the Prime Minister to close the Inquiry in January 2025. The Inquiry’s final costs will be published at that point.

The Inquiry record, including all evidence disclosed to core participants, will be published on The National Archives Discovery Platform in the first quarter 2025, where it can be accessed and searched. The Inquiry website will remain live until the end of February 2025, when it too will be transferred to the National Archives Discovery Platform.

The Inquiry contact and press mailbox and telephone lines will not be monitored regularly from now.
